Ordering Information
What do you need from me to get started?
Once you have selected an image for your ornament you can forward us digital photos, email files, hard copies of pictures, sketches or drawings. You may also send us specific written instructions with any of the text that you would like on your ornament. If you are trying to match a particular color, PMS (Pantone) #'s are always helpful. The more information we have about what you're looking for, the better it will be translated into a collectible that meets your needs.
How long does the process take from start to finish?
Allow 8 to 12 weeks. Because this is a process that can be subject to revisions, we suggest that you allow a little more time than the process might actually take. Once you have made a decision on a concept, it will take our graphics department 2-3 weeks to develop your design. Once the design is approved it will take 4 weeks for production. If you have a specific deadline that is less than the 8 week minimum, we suggest you contact us so we can advise you if the timeline can be met.
How much does a typical ornament cost?
It's difficult to give you an exact cost, but we can give an estimate based on the type and style of ornament you are interested in. Please contact a sales rep to discuss. If you are unsure about the type and style of ornament, we can give you a range of $7.00 to $10.00/per piece.
Are there any set up costs?
Yes, there is a $200.00 artwork charge for the design, a $180.00 one-time tooling charge to produce the product, and an $80.00 one time charge per color for silk screen masks. Decals and porcelain stones are $1400-$1500 plus a transparency to gauge color.
Revisions were mentioned as part of the process. Is there a charge for these changes?
One revision to the original design is included in the initial artwork charge. Charges are incurred for additional revisions, and may have an effect on the actual time and cost of the entire project. If your design includes color, please remember that color changes require new screens. Because new screens are expensive, please select your colors carefully. Doing so will ensure that you minimize the costs of screens while still using the colors you find most attractive or relevant to your design.
What is your minimum order?
250 pieces for metal ornaments. 5000 pieces for ornaments with porcelain stones.
Can I order less than 250 pieces?
The 250 piece minimum is the smallest order we can process, and our reorders are 150 pieces. Many organizations and communities successfully manage to enlist sponsors who pay these costs in exchange for recognition on a romance card that is included with the product.
If I sell out, what is the minimum re-order and how long does it take to get product?
The minimum re-order is 150 pieces and it takes three to four weeks for production.
Do you get a price break if you order higher quantities?
YES. If you place an initial order of 500, 1000 or more, we offer price breaks that can help save you money.
What else can I do to differentiate my product?
There are additional ways to enhance the product – screen printing to add color, decals, porcelain stones, castings, crystals, and much more. These enhancements all impact the development costs, and can be discussed with your representative during the initial design phase. Packaging can also help differentiate the keepsake. Adding a hot stamp to the lid of a box, or adding a romance card to outline the historical value or benefit of the piece can enhance its value in the eyes of the purchaser or the recipient.
What type of packaging is available?
Three types of packaging are available - Lidded Gift Box, Fold-Up Window Box, or poly-bagged. A gift box provides the most attractive presentation for your collectible. The standard box is 5 inches wide x 5 inches long x ½ inch deep in varying colors. This size fits most ornaments. Alternative sizes are available. This package is suitable for hot-stamping at a minimal additional cost. The window box allows buyers of your collectible to view it without having to open the box. Window boxes are available in red and blue. Lastly, when presentation is not important, or the item is being used as a memento, often times the product is simply poly-bagged. This process keeps the product clean and neat, but decreases the overall costs.
What is a hot stamp box?
A die is produced from the ornament design or the logo of the organization. Gold or silver foil can then be crash imprinted by that die to transfer the image on to the lid. A color stamp can also be added if gold or silver are not suitable.
What do people put on a romance card?
Many organizations will have us create a romance card that we insert into the gift box to help tell their story or to make the public aware of the activities the organization sponsors during the year. The card might include thanking volunteers, providing a web address and contact info for future donations and correspondence or providing history to a specific event or landmark.
Do you offer any assistance in how to market our collectible?
We have case studies and marketing tips listed on our website as well as the knowledge and experience of our clients. Your representative will be happy to share some ideas and experiences that have helped our clients achieve the most success with their programs. Our clients are our most valuable resource!
What is the benefit of having an ongoing ornament program?
Creating a series of ornaments allows you to create a collectible program. Individuals buying the ornament look forward to each new piece to add to their collection, while continually donating, increasing your revenue and supporting your cause.
I want to do something to thank my donor and volunteers but cannot afford to create an ornament at this time. Any suggestions on what I could do?
How about creating a bookmark or a lapel pin? This is a great way to have a relatively less expensive custom product made to thank donors or volunteers. Once you see how it is received you could consider starting an ornament program.
Do I have to pay anything up front because it's a custom piece?
NO! We will bill you for your order once the ornaments ship and we'll set you up with NET 30 terms from the start.
